Frequently Asked Questions

What are Disbursements?

Disbursements are 3rd party fee's paid out on your behalf. Usually things like the Cremations fee, Doctors fees, Minister or Celebrant fees. We pay these on your behalf and then pass the cost back to you. We don't add a mark up to the fee, you pay what we pay. We include these fees in all our quoted prices.

Do you include all costs in your online prices?

Most of the prices you will see online for funerals costs will give the price excluding disbursements. We would also suggest that when comparing prices, you compare service and what's contained within that service. We are confident that we will be very competitive.

Do you accept DWP Funerals?

Yes we do. If you ask for our help, then we will do our very best to give that help. The DWP will usually pay a reasonable amount to the cost of a funeral, but not all of it. We will work with you to create a fitting funeral for your loved one, and will work together to find suitable payment options.

What areas do you cover?

Our funeral home and chapel of rest is situated in Congleton. But we can provide funeral services anywhere within the immediate area. This includes Macclesfield, Sandbach, Crewe, Middlewich, Northwich, Kidsgrove, Knutsford, Leek etc.

What do you mean by independent funeral director?

We are not part of a larger national chain like Co-Op, or a PLC like Dignity, who have lots of shareholders. We are a family run business focussed on delivering exceptional service to our families. Of course we have to make a living, but we put service before profitability. Each family is important to us. We care about you, and what you are going through with bereavement. For us it's personal and we take our work very seriously with a huge amount of pride in what we do.

What's the difference between a tradition funeral and life celebration?

A traditional funeral is usually a dark, sombre event where everyone wears black. The music is often sad, or features traditional hymns. A life celebration is a true celebration of life. The music played is often more fitting to represent the life of the person, and often black clothing is avoided. We are very experienced with both types of service and always deliver a respectful fitting service as per our client's instructions.

Do you provide Funeral Plans?

Yes we do. Pre-paid funeral plans are a brilliant idea as they take the pressure and worry off your family, when you eventually pass away. Our funeral plans are tailor made to each client's wishes and set at our very competitive prices. Our funeral plans can be paid off over many years making them easier on the pocket too. Furthermore we guarantee that for our part of the plan, you will never pay any more than we have agreed. Click here for more details.
