Kath passed away peacefully on Saturday 12th February 2022 at home, aged 73, surrounded by her loving family who had cared for her.

The cherished wife of Arthur, loving mother to Sally and Steven and treasured mother-in-law of Sean and Tracy, devoted grandma of six and great-grandmother of nine. Kath will be lovingly remembered for her warm smile, her sociable, caring nature and her deep love and affection for her many friends and family. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. The family held a private cremation at Birches Crematorium on Monday 28th of February 2022. A seperate Celebration of Life service was held at St Mary's Church, Astbury, Congleton on Friday 4th March 2022. Attendees were invited to wear a 'splash of purple' as a tribute, as this was her favourite colour.

Funeral Report

Kathleen Ann Pointon passed away peacefully on Saturday 12th February 2022 at home, aged 73, surrounded by her loving family who had cared for her. The cherished wife of Arthur, loving mother to Sally and Steven and treasured mother-in-law of Sean and Tracy, devoted grandma of six and great-grandmother of nine. Kath will be lovingly remembered for her warm smile, her sociable, caring nature and her deep love and affection for her many friends and family. 

The family held a private cremation service at Birches Memorial Park and Crematorium, in Lach Dennis on Monday 28th of February 2022.  The service was officiated by the Reverend Anne-Marie Naylor.  Kath was brought into chapel accompanied by Fields of Gold by Sting.  Reverend Naylor offered a welcome and opening prayers before a tribute to Kath by her uncle, George Parrott was given. There then played a visual tribute, with a photo slide show played to The Wonder of You” by Elvis Presley.  Reverend Naylor then read Psalm 23, before giving her address. Prayers and then the Lord s Prayer were then offered.  A bouquet of flowers was  placed on the Kath s coffin by Mrs Tracy Pointon.  Following the commendation and committal the family exited the service played out to Over the Rainbow” sung by Israel Kamakawiwio ole. 

Mourners attending the Crematorium were Mr A Pointon (husband) Mr S & Mrs T Pointon (son and daughter-in-Law), Mr S & Mrs S Williams (daughter and son-in-Law), Ms K Pointon (granddaughter) & Miss M Pointon (great granddaughter), Miss K Pointon (granddaughter) & Miss A Luinen (great granddaughter), Miss A Pointon (granddaughter) &  Mr R Bannister, Mr H Pointon (grandson) &  Miss A Shatwell, Mr B Worrall (grandson) & Miss S Pritchard, Miss E Williams (granddaughter). Also attending were Mrs A Holland (representing Mr T & Mrs F Coote), Mrs M Elkin, Mrs K Triner, Ms J Elkin, Mr D Wright (cousin) & Mrs N Wright, Mrs J Gibson (cousin) & Mr K Smith, Mr G Parrott (uncle) & Mrs B Parrott, Mr A & Mrs Y Fraser, Mr P & Mrs L Mayland, Mrs L J Williams (representing Mrs J Williams), Mr T Rigby.

Following the family cremation, a celebration of life service took place at St.Mary s Church, Astbury on Friday March 4th 2022.  Alongside the family, this service was also attended by many of Kath s friends.

A casket containing Kath s cremated remains was carried into church by Mr Steven Pointon and accompanied by You Are The Sunshine of My Life” by Stevie Wonder.  The service was again officiated by the Reverend Anne-Marie Naylor, who warmly welcomed everyone to St.Mary s.  The congregation then sung the hymn, Jerusalem.  A poem was read by Miss Eloise Williams and then a tribute to Kath and the work she did was given by Mr Phil Mayland of Alcoholics Anonymous.  Kath s eulogy was then given by Mrs Sally Williams and Mrs Tracy Pointon, before singing of the hymn Amazing Grace”. Reverend Naylor then addressed Kath s great grandchildren with a lovely story and then offered Peace and Blessings to the congregation, before closing the ceremony.  Kath left the church to You re My Best Friend” by Queen, and the mourners went to Congleton Cricket Club to continue the celebration.
